In 1821, Hugh Barton acquired Château Langoa, an elegant residence built in 1758. Its architecture, its harmonious proportions and its 20 hectares of vines planted in the Saint Julien appellation seduced Hugh who renamed it "Château Langoa Barton". During the 1855 classification, Hugh Barton, passionate and lover of his wine, was rewarded by the property's accession to the rank of "3ème Cru Classé". Many generations followed one another and the history of the Bartons continues to be written with Anthony Barton, then his daughter Lilian, supported by her two children who thus represent the 10th generation.
