The current Château de Cissac, a beautiful 18th century charterhouse, was built on the remains of a Roman villa, as many archaeological details attest.
Today, it is Marie Vialard, the direct descendant of Jacques Mondon, who acquired the estate in 1895, who presides over Château Cissac, in the heart of Haut-Médoc. Its 50 hectare vineyard, managed in a sustainable way, gives pride of place to Cabernet Sauvignon, a historic grape variety followed by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
At the heart of their practices and actions, we find some fundamental precepts: respect for the laws of the climate and the identity of the terroir, desire to best express the grape varieties, alliance of tradition and modernity.
Thus, they produce wines that have the strength of the Médoc and the aromatic elegance of the great Bordeaux.
