The Gironde estuary, the largest in Europe, has a series of islands. These islands have had multiple functions over time. Each was occupied by a micro company.
Opposite Pauillac, Patiras, which is said to have arisen in the Middle Ages, had a wine vocation, sheltered from phylloxera. Today turned off, the lighthouse offers from the top of its hundred steps, a beautiful view of the Estuary. The refuge next to the lighthouse, recently inaugurated, offers careful restoration in an architectural setting that highlights the environment in which it is located.
