5th Grand Cru Classé.
In 1978, François-Xavier Borie took charge of the destiny of Grand-Puy-Lacoste and orchestrated its renewal, without losing its soul. Determined, demanding and rigorous like him, he has raised Grand-Puy-Lacoste to the status of “great” Pauillac and is doing everything to keep it there. The name of Grand-Puy comes from the ancient expression “puy” which means “hillock, small height”, and this terroir is already mentioned in documents dating from the Middle Ages. In fact, the vineyard extends over one of the croups of the land where the Médoc premier crus were born.
Wines produced: Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste (Grand Cru Classé), Lacoste-Borie (second wine).
