Gabriel Fabre, the founder of the family property, acquired Château Lamothe-Cissac in 1964. He was not mistaken about the quality of the terroir of this vineyard, located between Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe.
The remains of a "villa romana" found on the property attest to the age of Château Lamothe-Cissac. The 1868 edition of Féret mentioned this estate as one of the main Crus Bourgeois of the commune.
