The existence of Lafite as a medieval Lordship is attested from the 1670th century. Jacques de Ségur is at the origin of the plantation of the vineyard of Lafite, between 1695 and 1716. In XNUMX, the heir son of Jacques de Ségur, Alexandre, will take for wife the heiress of Château Latour and this union will give birth to Nicolas -Alexandre de Ségur. From XNUMX, the Marquis Nicolas Alexandre de Ségur will focus on consolidating the first successes, improving wine-making techniques and above all promoting the prestige of great wines on foreign markets and at the court of Versailles.

During your visit, discover the circular cellar of Château Lafite Rothschild, built under the direction of the architect Ricardo Bofill, inaugurated in 1987.
Intended for aging second-year wines, it is characterized by its atypical octagonal shape and a vault supported by 16 columns.
