Pass in front of the Saint Romain church (XNUMXth century). Go around it on the right by the rue du Center. You pass in front of the arch-porch of the old Presbytery (end of the XNUMXth century) on your left.

At the end of the street, facing a mission cross, go left towards Saint-Yzans. At the crow's feet, turn right in the direction of "Abbaye de l'Isle". On the path to your left you can admire an old mill restored to make it a living space. Follow the paved road to the Abbey of Saint Pierre de l'Isle and its dovecote. Be careful, on the way a tree hides the old ruined mill. Follow the white path which bypasses the Abbey.

At the crossroads, facing a lock, turn right and follow the channel for 1,2 km before turning to your left to continue the walk in the middle of nature

At the end of the path, turn right and follow the main path until the intersection with the D203. Cross the road with caution towards Boyentran to join the Marque road. On your left in the middle of the field you will be able to observe a kind of dovecote which in reality is an old funeral building. At the end of the road turn right onto Route de Boyentran and turn right again at the next crossroads with Route de Barbehère. On this road to the right, the Barbehère farm has one of the last 80 Bollée wind turbines visible in France. The Bollée wind turbine is a type of wind turbine invented by Ernest-Sylvain Bollée (1814-1891), which was used to pump water for agricultural activity. This was installed in 1883.

Go along the wood which is on your right and turn right across the meadow to see the tumulus located 90 meters away.

Retrace your steps and continue on the road until the intersection with the D4. Turn right at the cede-le-passage, taking the lower side of the road. At 500m turn left on a dirt road in the middle of the vineyards, continue straight on to the hamlet. At the crow's feet take the dirt road to the right Passage de Bacquey. You arrive in Potensac, the opportunity to fill your gourds at the Potensac fountain and admire the chapel and the dovecote, now private. Continue opposite, Passage de la Fontaine, on your left, the Château de Potensac, a beautiful bourgeois house where the owners of the vineyard lived. on the other side of the street, two recent sculptures (1970) on the facade of a house locally called "La Buchère", represent a glassblower on the right, a potter on the left.

Go up the dirt road in the middle of the vines to the mission cross. A small stone bench awaits you for a contemplative break. Go down the grassy path and continue on your right. bypass a grazing area by turning left, follow the path straight until the intersection with a tarmac road that you will go up on the right for 250m then take the dirt track located in the bend on the left side of the road while continuing straight on until the next crossroads. Turn left towards the archaeological site of Bois Carré, then take the first right towards the village of Saint-Yzans-de-Médoc.

Follow the streets of Lomenade and Loudenne to the foot of the church of Saaint-Yzans-de-Médoc. This Gothic church was rebuilt in 1881, it has listed furniture, but unfortunately cannot be visited. The extremely old parish of Saint-Yzans-de-Médoc is cited in manuscripts dated 1420, under the name of Sannctus Dienuus, of Saint Dizart or Dizerus, the bishop of Saintes from the year 852. This name recalls the arrival and wine-growing influence of the less Saintongeais in this part of the Medoc in the XNUMXth century.

Take the road to the right of the church, pass in front of the war memorial and follow the rue de Rigon. On the right, the wash house of Saint-Yzans-de-Medoc. A place of exchange and sociability in the XNUMXth century, this building, made up of a wash house, a watering hole and a well, has once again become, thanks to the developments that have been made, a place of meeting and relaxation. Continue on this peaceful asphalt road bordering meadows and vineyards. At the crow's feet continue straight on your left. At the intersection with the road leading to Château Mareil turn left then right in the middle of the vines. At the end of the path, turn right towards Ordonnac then left to come back to the departure bridge, church square.
